For event bookings and catering services

These terms and conditions apply to all event bookings and private hire arrangements made with Britten's Bites. By confirming a booking with us, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before making an enquiry or booking.
1. About Us
Britten's Bites is a mobile catering business based in Earls Colne, Essex. We trade as a family-run operation and can be contacted at:

2. Bookings and Confirmation

A booking is not confirmed until you have received written confirmation from us by email or message.

We reserve the right to decline any booking at our discretion.

Bookings are subject to availability. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

It is your responsibility to ensure that all details provided at the time of booking are accurate, including event date, location, start and finish times, and estimated guest numbers.
3. Deposits and Payment
-
A non-refundable date-holding fee of £50 is required to secure your date. Your date is not held until this fee is received.

A further deposit may be required to confirm the booking, depending on the nature and size of the event. The amount, if applicable, will be agreed at the time of booking and confirmed in writing. This deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation by you.

The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before the event date. For bookings made within 14 days of the event, the full amount is due at the time of booking.

Payment can be made by bank transfer. Details will be provided on your booking confirmation.

We reserve the right to cancel an unconfirmed booking if the deposit is not received within 5 working days of the booking being agreed.
4. Cancellation by You

Cancellations must be made in writing by email to brittensbites@gmail.com.

If you cancel more than 28 days before the event: your deposit is forfeited but no further charge applies.

If you cancel between 14 and 28 days before the event: 50% of the total booking fee is payable.

If you cancel within 14 days of the event: 100% of the total booking fee is payable.

We strongly recommend that you take out event insurance to cover cancellation costs.
5. Cancellation or Changes by Us

We will always do our best to fulfil every booking. In the unlikely event that we are unable to attend due to vehicle breakdown, illness, or circumstances beyond our control, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer either a full refund of all monies paid or an alternative date if available.

Our liability in the event of cancellation by us is limited to a full refund of monies paid. We cannot be held responsible for any consequential losses.

We reserve the right to make reasonable substitutions to the agreed menu if specific ingredients become unavailable, while maintaining equivalent quality and value.

6. Guest Numbers

The price quoted is based on the estimated guest numbers provided at the time of booking.

Final confirmed numbers must be provided no later than 7 days before the event.

We will always aim to cater for the numbers confirmed, but cannot guarantee to cater for significant increases in numbers notified less than 7 days before the event.

If final numbers are significantly lower than estimated, the original quoted price may still apply.
7. Venue and Access

The price quoted is based on the estimated guest numbers provided at the time of booking.

8. Food Safety and Allergens

We take food safety seriously and operate in full compliance with UK food hygiene regulations.

Our food is prepared in an environment that handles gluten, dairy, eggs, soya, mustard, and sesame.

We cannot guarantee that any of our products are free from allergens. Guests with serious food allergies or intolerances should inform us in advance and eat at their own risk.

It is your responsibility to inform your guests of this allergen notice.
9. Behaviour and Safety

We reserve the right to refuse service to any person whose behaviour is aggressive, abusive, or threatening to our staff.

Our staff have the right to work in a safe and respectful environment at all times.
10. Liability

Our total liability for any claim arising from a booking is limited to the value of the booking fee paid.

We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses, including loss of enjoyment or third-party costs.

We hold public liability insurance. Details are available on request.
11. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
These terms were last reviewed in June 2026. Britten's Bites reserves the right to update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking confirmation applies.
